A description and composition of 2 and 3 voice chords. Living in perfect harmony and feeling themselves diminished or augmented, the chords are part of the same family: the triad. The chords of 3 sounds are also called "triads". We can find 4 basic categories: the major triad consists of a major third (E) and a perfect fifth (G) The minor triad consists of a minor third (Eb) and a perfect fifth (G) The diminished chord is made of a minor third (Eb) and a diminished fifth (Gb). The augmented chord consists of a major third (E) and an augmented fifth (G#). Unity makes strength, and being four, the chords sometimes invent new dissonant sounds. In order to obtain four sounds, we can add a note to the basic triad. This new note can be a major sixth added to a major or a minor triad. For example in the first case, one adds a major sixth (A) to the major triad, and in the second case, a major sixth (A) to the C minor triad. But the sixth can also be minor. For example in the third case, a minor sixth is added (Ab) to the C major triad, then 2nd a minor sixth (Ab) is added to a C minor triad.
